They were more musical magpies - combining '70's Glam Pop with mid-'60's pop (Beatles / Merseybeat) for those whom, in the '90's, were too young to remember either...

Yes. Definitely a ton of Beatles influence. I read the other day that 14 million people tried to buy tickets for the tour.

have always loved REM, or I should say early REM.

Rick Beato did an excellent interview with Mike Mills, the bassist, pianist, and really smart, capable musician in the band.  Required watching if you're an REM fan.

Not in the interview posted above, but Mike Mills talked about how he roughed out Radio Free Europe, and they released this short which I loved.  I've been struggling to play the song (acoustic guitar) and Mike's progression up the neck was a revelation that opened the door for me.  Plus, it's a revelation how he stole the sound from some people upstairs jamming.

Meadow Event Park in Doswell.  He looks and sounds great, especially for being 80.  A couple of his sons play in the band with him.

  I've been there...years ago...but not for a concert...I'll have to pay attention to their events calendar...

That was my first concert there.  Similar setup to Innsbrook, but bigger.

Sadly, bringing elephants on tour has become cost prohibitive.

He released a new album on Friday, though the songs aren’t new. It’s an album of re-recorded CCR songs with the subtitle "(John's Version)" (I am not joking). We were listening to it last night. His voice still sounds great.

When Born to Run came out, I got turned off by the hype. Cover of Newsweek and Time the same week. My brother I think got into Bruce before I did. I didn't really get into Springsteen for a couple more years when I was in college.

That was awesome, thanks.  Not sure I can pick out a favorite.  Loved Darkness and The River.  I guess The River would be my favorite track, so gonna go with that.

Has that great wailing harmonica intro too.

From October of last year, another Springsteen on Stern clip, but this time with the full band minus Little Steven who was unable to attend.  Watch through to the end for the flub.

Miyako, the co-lead guitarist of Japanese power metal band Lovebites, is a classically trained pianist. Here is her piano cover of Judas Priest's "Painkiller."
