Zuck posted some notes on tomorrow's opener. Irvin will throw one inning. Abrams and Wood won't play (Rosario starts at short). Poche is back from an illness but probably won't pitch this weekend.

So, yes, Bell and Susana were part of the same trade, on different sides. Adding another layer: When the Padres asked to include Bell in the transaction, the Nationals wanted Susana in return.

“Ohhhh,” Bell said. “Yeah, I had no idea. This is him, right? This big guy?” Yes, him.

Susana was a bit more aware of his new teammate. “Soto and Bell,” he said when asked whether he realized whom he was traded for. He smiled and pointed across the room to Bell’s locker. Susana said he and Bell have said hello but haven’t had any extended conversations. After all, they’re both trying to make their mark in camp.
