Does he have a realistic chance to make the OD roster?
IMHO, No.

He's going to play everyday in Rochester and be either a trade chip, a replacement for Young if Young falters, or an injury replacement.

No.

After some bad seasons, they will want some sustained success, especially with 3 starters already in the OF.

Bobby Barrels has been hurt so often that the Nats will need to see him play steady for a couple months in Rochester before trusting him in the OF. Then no reason to trade anyone, except Call. With the DH, there are plenty of AB's for four good outfielders.

Hassell needs to start in AAA for service time reasons alone.  The 1B option could be interesting if Lowe is gone at the deadline.

6:05 PM today vs The Mets. AM980 / No TV

Looks like Davey is trying out most of his OD lineup:

Abrams - SS
Crews - CF
Wood - LF
Lowe - 1B
DeJong - 3B
Garcia Jr. - 2B
Call - RF
Chaparro - DH
Knizner - C
Williams - P

On the Mets side, we face Joey Meneses!

Plate discipline seems to still be an issue. In the 1st, Wood walked on 4 pitches (probably an intentional unintentional walk), while the other three hitters all swung into outs on the first pitch. In the 2nd, after the DeJong 4-pitch walk, García was out on the first pitch, Call on the second, and Chaparro singled on the first pitch.

Thirteen first pitch outs in total. No batter saw more than four pitches.

On paper, Abrams had a good day (2-4 with a HR), but he also saw 5 pitches in 4 at-bats. So he's either already super-locked-in, or just got lucky.

if you are following a spring game on gameday, it does not track counts accurately. Ks are 3 pitch, bbs are 4 pitch, and contact is on 1st pitch.

3-0 after 3 minutes. Yale hasn't lost a draw. Switch to Herz.

Only 2 regulars. Chance for bench to show itself. Young, Bobby Barrels slap a couple of balls the other way for singles

Also, I'm pretty sure every team in baseball will take 2-4 with a homer on five pitches.

Looks like Herz is heading to Rochester. Another poor performance.
