That 171 OPS+ says he still cares enough at the plate. He’s not the reason they suck.

Wow. With the Nats, Soto worked hard on his fielding. This is just silly. He chose the Mets over the Yankees, maybe knowing that the Yankees would hold him to tough standards. The Mets have no standards.

I mean watching that again he misplayed the ball. He’s not a good OF.  We know that. It’s not his fault that the CF messed up backing the play. By the time he recovered the CF goof it was too late to throw the ball. The guy was past third base. Not clear why you work conclude he doesn’t care?  Seems a major overreaction.

That's not a misplay. That's lazy. He didn't want to get in front of it. His CF didn't mess up. His CF was in right center to start this play. He was over 200 feet away and beat Soto to the ball.

Soto was freaking lazy on the hit and even lazier with his jog back to go get his freakup.

Honestly, we lucked out not signing him long term. He's been nothing but a clubhouse problem since he left. He cried about the team releasing the details of our final offer. He complained about where he was hitting in the lineup in San Diego. He didn't talk to teammates when he went to the IL. He doesn't get along with the team leader and future HoFer in Lindor. And now its coming out that in between innings, Soto sat on couches near the batting cages during innings instead of staying in the dugout with the team.

Glad we got a haul for him and glad he didn't saddle us with an albatross contract.

Went with my friend the Yankees fan to the Mets game and the Yankees game a few weeks ago.  He’s still upset about the Yankees losing Soto. But for us has been four years. Time to move on.
