[Zuckerman] The Nationals did not tender contracts to Kyle Finnegan and Tanner Rainey.
Wow. I suppose at $8 million he's priced higher thanhis market value. That said, 5 years and a pile of saves, plus classic dad jokes, made a mark here.
LAC
Either this is signaling something good, or something very bad. Honestly not sure what to think at this point.
Is it possible Finnegan's blew out his arm and the Nats don't want to pay him 8 million to rehab?
Source: The Nats thought they were closing in on a deal with Kyle Finnegan that stalled, and the team was not willing to tender him a deal without a firm contract in place. If they tendered Finnegan today without a firm contract in place, it could have ended in an arbitration hearing and potentially pay what @mlbtraderumors was estimating at $8.6 million.
This is not a team that cares about winning
Pretty surprising. Finnegan's been discussed already but Rainey is a bit of a shock to me too given they kept him stashed in the bullpen like a rule 5 draftee all season. What exactly is the plan here?
