Reports are that the Cubs, Yankees, Mets, and Giants have all been told that they are out on Rori Sasaki. Jays, Padres, and Mariners are reportedly still in the mix.

Jays seem to be the Jerry Quarry of free agent competitions.

that's a nice contract for him. So the Mets will have at least one butcher in the field: Winker or Soto

Mets pivoted away from Alonso after he rejected a three year deal in the $68-$70 million range.

Fox Sports says the Padres are out on Sasaki and it's down to Toronto and the Dodgers.

To update: A Cubs reporter says he's heard the Dodgers have won the Sasaki sweepstakes.

Seems the Boras magic hasn't completely returned. But like with his clients last offseason Alonso has a lot of question marks for the kind of contract he's seeking.

His tactics are great when he has a Soto or a Harper that teams think will transform rosters. For players a tier or two lower, he seems terrible lately

The Jays traded for an extra $2 million in international money from Cleveland, taking on Myles Straw's contract, to have as much bucks as the Dodgers to pay Sasaki

Do what? Are we just going to make all international free agent draft?

Not sure but things are getting out of hand. You can’t have one or two teams just buying up everyone. It’s stupid.

You only have a handful of teams actually trying.

Sorry, but Ohtani's agent offered that deal to everyone. And every freaking team in baseball could have afforded to match it. Likewise, every team in baseball could have afforded Yamamato. Heck, the Yankees balked because they didn't want to pay him more than Cole.

Sasaki is going to the Dodgers because they invested in Japanese players and a development system that knows how to get the most out of talent.

The Japanese players all want to be in LA.  It was inevitable.

Why?  The NBA has gotten popular over the years with just a couple teams competing and dominant teams.  Fools will still show to watch the other teams and TV ratings will rise to see of anyone can upset the Dodgers.  Which will lead to bigger national tv contracts.  More concerts this year for Nats fans!

Also, AJ Minter to the Mets for 2 years $22 million. At least now I can understand why he wouldn't take less than $10 million for a year I was talking about. Crowd source way off on him
