George Mason into the final against VCU.  Maryland blows it at the end but of course they are in the big tourney.

Flagg will be back for the tournament. I assume they go in now as the overall #1 with Auburn losing.

I’m sure he will play but wonder if he will be limited. They seem like a good candidate to go out early.

Radford hires SMU assistant Zach Chu as its new mens head coach. Has never coached in college before but was on the staff for a couple of NBA teams. He played from 2011-15 at the University of Richmond.

JCA, what do we think about Yale's chances against Texas A&M?

I don’t know much about a&m. Yale normally wins on rebounds and not turning the ball over. They have 2 very good defenders in their guards (Mbeng, Simmons) who probably won't be outquicked, but their forwards might be small and less athletic. They have a good shot blocker in their center but he's light and awkward offensively. Best hope is if their 3 (Poulakidis) shoots lights out from 3 like he did v Auburn last year. Their 4 (Townsend) had a great year, but I think he gets swallowed up inside by a good 4 with more size (he's 6'7"), but he can take a slow big outside.

George Mason men did make the NIT as a two seed.  George Mason women win the A10 and are in the NCAA.

Virginia Tech women are the first team out of the NCAA and will be a one seed in the NIT.

Maryland men are the four seed and will play Grand Canyon Friday afternoon. Not the whole canyon. Just a school.  Maryland women are in as usual and will host two games.

VCU wins the A10 and as 11 seed will play BYU Thursday afternoon. Would not be surprised to see them win that game.

W&M women in as noted earlier.

American men play the Mount in a local clash in the First Four.

High Point enters as a 13 seed, i think that's the highest ever for the Big South.

American and Mt. St. Mary play for the right to get squashed by Duke.

Laughable that teams like UGA, Vandy, Texas, Oklahoma, Miss State, and UNC made the tourney.   College basketball is about to go the way of college football

I listened to an explanation of dropping the record over the last 10 games criterion in selection. It was specifically intended to help major conferences. The idea was that in conference play and tournaments, the power conference teams beat each other up while hot mid-majors and lower conferences might have a couple teams that cakewalk to the final of their tournaments. IOW, it was designed to hurt a school like Mason vs a UNC or Texas.

Mind you, I get the case for UNC based on NET rating. It is about 15-20 places above the West Virginias who are complaining. Texas is a disgrace. There ought to be a requirement that you can't get an at large if you are under .500 in your conference. Conference ball should not be some elongated pre-season for these teams. Mason was robbed.

Because the tournament is built on the 12th best team from a major conference? What percentage of viewers would prefer to watch a mid major try to make a run vs a 19-15 (6-12 in conference) Texas? Regular season college basketball is already dead as a national sport, it seems like the committee wants to kill march madness too

What are the trends in ratings? I think people like to see the big schools but also they like when a smaller conference tram makes a run.  I don’t watch much regular season college basketball anymore. My teams suck now but also all the players moving around hurts. I saw Joe Bamisile on VCU. Thought the name was familiar. Started at VT.  Next year GW. Next year Oklahoma. Next year VCU. I hope he has another year of eligibility so he can take his talents to another school.

I will watch Match Madness. At least the first two rounds.

I’ll watch this weekend and then watch and Cinderellas making a run. I don’t really like the college game, but I like watching small schools win

Alabama St. recreates the famous Duke-Kentucky finish to advance in their play-in game. 3.4 seconds left, they hail-mary inbound from under their own basket, a AS player grabs it and lays it in for the win.

Looked more like the Commanders Hail Mary against the Bears.

Madness starting. Creighton up by 15 over Louisville at half, and High Point - Purdue tied at 20 ten minutes into the 1st.
