This year the Sun Belt tournament had by far the strangest bracket I’ve ever seen. The way it’s shown on Wikipedia is a great way to see just how weird it is.
It’s almost like the KBO playoffs in baseball. Five plays Four.  Winner of that plays Three. Winner of that plays two and winner of that plays Number one. Brings up the old is it better to keep playing or have the rest.

If there is a possibility of multiple bids, it protects the higher seeds from being upset by the lowest seed as much as possible

True but I don’t think that conference is getting multiple bids??

Radford - High Point was a pretty fun game. Highpoint won by three to overcome a late Radford surge.

Not this year, but I could see JMU having a chance at an at large at some point. Depending on what happens to that other conferences, they may end up with better teams down the road

High Point beats Winthrop by 12 to punch their ticket as Big South champs. High Point had an RPI ranking of 83 coming into this weekend so perhaps they aren't a 16?

JMU going down in the semis. Barring a miracle late comeback.

I heard from an alumnus that they were severely hurt by NIL. Or maybe that was JMU.

Wm & Mary is where the Cornell coach is now, right?

James Jones has finished in the top 4 for the past 25 years, which would have put him in the Ivy tournament every year except his first.

Men's "Ivy Madness" has Yale v Princeton and Dartmouth vs. Cornell. They hold their men's and women's tournaments at one school campus on a rotation basis. It's Brown this time, which completes the cycle I think. Sold out, but it's only about an 1800 seat gym. I'd prefer the Palestra even though Penn is often in the tournament. Short of that, I think they should have one of the schools that missed both the men's and women's Ivey tournaments host the following year to make it more likely that it is a neutral site. Princeton a couple of years ago hosted and won after finishing second in the league, and I think the year before Yale may have hosted and done the same thing to Princeton.

Yes, Brian Earl came over from Cornell before this year.

Penn fires Donahue after two straight seventh place finishes.  Assume they will focus on Penn alumni like Langel (Colgate), Toole (American) and Klatsky (NYU and before that assisted Langel at Colgate).  But how about a Princeton guy like Earl? Or one of their current top assistants?

The non power five conference championships last night were all close and entertaining.

His nephew is scheduled to play at Penn next season.  Although not sure how the coaching change will impact that.  His dad coaches at BU.

Maybe Penn can hire Brett Brown and keep his son Sam that way?

not his dad. his brother.

I think Earl would be a good hire, but I don't think Earl grabs it. As for Donahue, he didn't do well at BC, so this is a couple of jobs where he's out the door after bad performances.

Yea I meant the recruit’s Dad.

My understanding of Donahue is that the Sweet Sixteen run at Cornell was done with the previous guy’s recruits.

considered doubtful for the next round. Duke is probably a #1 regardless what happens in the ACC tourney.

W&M women’s team at #9 knocks off #1 NC A&T in the CAA tournament. The women’s team has never made the NCAA tournament either.
