From the Cubs booth-crew;

'Has Dylan Crews made any impression upon you?'

'No...'   ;)

First of all congrats to Gore and Gallo today. All these young pitchers must be approaching innings limits. I hope consistency on the mound will come in time

Now for something I just read and is of concern to me. Does this ring a bell with fellow members?

Abrams  being in a casino till 8am during season on a game day  bothers me and it is part MLB's fault. Davey is handling it in house but what will MLB execs do? They got into bed with gambling for money. LeBron doing betting commercials with Kevin Hart on football. This kind of blurring the lines will blow up a professional league via a Major gambling scandal soon. Too much money + too much insider info being passed leads to a fix eventually.

With the :w: posted, we honor the memory our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS: Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 69th win of the season, each season:

2012 - 9th August (112th match of season)
2017 - 12th August (114th match)
2016 - 14th August (116th match)
2014 - 17th August (122nd match)
2019 - 21st August (126th match)
2005 - 31st August (133rd match)
2013 - 1st September (136th match)
2018 - 3rd September (138th match)
2015 - 4th September (134th match)
2011 - 13th September (146th match)
2024 - 21st September (155th match)
2007 - 23rd September (156th match)
2023 - 24th September (156th match)
2006 - 25th September (156th match)
2010 - 4th October (162nd match) - final win of season
---
2022- finished 55-107 (.340)
2009 - finished 59-103 (.364)
2008 - finished 59-102 (.366)
2021 - finished 65-97 (.401)
2020 - finished 26-34 (.433)

ties win total for 2010 at 69. Niiiiice.

2006 and 2023 were 71 win seasons, 2007 the Nats won 73.  So it's 1 win to reach 70, and 2 to tie 2006 & 2023, with 7 games left. 4-3 ties 2007. With 6 against playoff teams, 73 looks like a bridge too far.
