Capitals 2024-2025
« on: September 18, 2024, 09:18:53 pm »

I think we all saw this coming:

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals alternate captain T.J. Oshie completed his medical exam today, and his status is listed as injured. Oshie is expected to be placed on the long-term injury reserve list during the 2024-25 season.

Vrana picked up on a league-minimum 1-way deal following his PTO...

Excellent!  Low risk/high upside, and I'll always love him for being almost too drunk to stand on the bus at the Cup parade

We’re at the alumni game at medstar. Bondra has a goal and assist already.  Early in the second.

I don't wanna jinx them...but listening to the names, I'm pretty excited for this roster.

Nice to see Troy Brouwer back with the Alumni group...

Yea. The GM did a good job. I saw someone post a chart from the athletic that had one axis as how good the team was set for the future and the other for now. Caps were in their own little box where neither was good. Think that underestimated their chances now. A lot may be up to the goalie staying hot.

We’ve been through this before for the Caps. Isn’t this their 51st year?

Yeah...though there was the 1 year that nobody played.  But they all seem to celebrate after the milestone season anyway...

That’s a good point. So technically 50.

I think last year was the first season the Chychrun played anything close to a full season. Need him to stay healthy.

Went to the game tonight. Solid all around performance. Goaltending and power play / kill stood out to me. Ovi got assists 699 and 700.

Mrs. VARK and I are going to the 3/27/25 game in Minneapolis/St. Paul...

They just opened a Marriott Courtyard right across the street.  Handy indeed, but not as handy as Buffalo or Toronto where you don't have to go outside of the Marriott building at all...

I’m cold just thinking about that. Even in March.

It'll be the night the Gr8 breaks the Great One's goal scoring record, so we had to go...it was destiny...damn the cold...  ;)

At the game the other night a fan behind me commented that Ovi looked like a beer league player at this point. He hasn't scored yet but i'm sure that will change. I noticed they didn't start the top line against Vegas.

Another genius fan. He certainly has slowed down. But maybe a little better than a beer league player. Dallas is a good team so that’s a good victory last night.

They match-up lines based upon who the visiting team puts on the ice...has nothing to do with a lack of confidence in the top line...

Small sample size but seems opposite of last year. Scoring easily but problems stopping the other team.

Odd too, 'cause they sent Kuemper packin'.  Jubus he was bad...and played so bad in game 3 this year (8 goals vs Ottawa) that the Kings have placed him on the IR list...

Tom Wilson is en fuego...5 goals in 4 games...
