Sorta makes sense.  But only because they pushed back his FA eligibility a year by sending him down when this season started.

It doesnt make sense for him to try and figure out MLB pitching when he couldn't figure out Triple A pitching. Send him down and call up someone else. Tena can spot start in LF and Wood can spot start in CF if we need to. Or stop playing the charade of Abrams being a major league short stop and move him to CF

In reading that, the case for continuing to play him seems to amount to:  He was supposed to be good when we drafted him & we don't have anyone else in the system to bring up, so just be patient.

really curious if they clear out CF for him at the trade deadline. Young might bring back something from several contenders with holes in CF. Cards, Astros, maybe the Os would be landing spots.

right?  I think they're committed to him regardless of how he's playing now. If they are, then dealing Young to someone who will play him full time maxes what you can get

.768 OPS against RHP. Not terrible. Still not sure if thats good enough to play over Jacob Young

I just can't go wild over 15 PAs against RHP since  the All Star break, but yes, it's been a good short stretch. I still think pushing JY out in a deal to clear the path for Crews full time is on the table at the deadline regardless of whether we are trying to contend for the WC. That's especially the case if the development team think he's on the cusp of a breakthrough.

Crews is a better RFer than Wood.

I'm ok with the huge platoon splits of House and Crews in this offense because they can feast off of teams that try  to target Wood, Abrams, Garciia, and Lile. Especially Garcia and Lile. Crews and House should always hit 5th and 7th, with Abrams 4th and Lile 6th when they all play. You want to hit Crews in front of CJ and House behind him against lefties, I'll listen.  I'd be tempted to hit Ford 2nd with his OBP, too, but since Chappy is doing well enough after the ASB, I'd keep Ford lower in the order while he adjusts to the majors.

What's interesting to me is that Young has played this season like more than a 4th OF / short side of a platoon / defensive replacement. He actually looks like regular. Factoring in his base running, he's not a drag on the offense. He's playing like he deserves to be the regular CF.
