Washington Spirit announce that Croix Bethune is out for the rest of the 2024 NWSL season after surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
She leads the league in assists in her rookie season (10).

Tore it throwing out the first pitch at Nats park.

Why is the UEFA Nations League?

It gives those teams that'll never qualify for the major tournaments more games against quality opposition, and the chance of reaching the Euro's through performance in the NL. It also provides more meaningful games, in those gaps in the international schedule, that would previously have been filled by friendlies. And the broadcasters like it as it means more games for TV...

It also gives about three weeks for PL starters to recover from injuries they picked up in the first three games. Spurs lost Solanke and Richarlison. But, oh, I'm not eager to see Wales against Iceland against North Macedonia.

where's this guy been before? Is he one of those guys who turns around current talent or is he a builder? An understudy getting a shot or an established guy who gets restless or wears out welcome?

He took Spurs to the Champions League final, which was pretty much a loaves & fishes moment...

was flipping through the TV guide.  Thought I saw Georgia vs. Alabama.  Oh replay.  Don't want to watch that.  Then looked closer.  Georgia and Albania.  Albania just scored to take a 1-0 lead early second half.  France and Belgium on later.  FS2.

Not a great Nation's League, for the GP. Interim manager, Lee Carsley, played an experimental line-up, and formation, against Greece which badly backfired - Greece 2 - GP 1. Some order restored, yesterday, with a 3 - 1 win, over Finland, but not very convincing - Finland are the weakest team in the group, and the GP only got on top of things as the Finns began to tire. Carsley may well have coached himself out of contention for the permanent job...   ;)

Story I just read said Tuchel will get the job. How will that sit over there?

Love the FA Cup.  Just watched Tamsworth upset Huddersfield Town.  Have no idea where they are and need to look it up!

Edit:  Tamworth.

Cool, yes - although we're enjoying a few days of unseasonably mild weather, over here (12 Celsius, rather than single figures...)  ;)

Poch was a great coach for Spurs during the time they were short of money because they were building the finest soccer stadium in the world. Spurs then suffered under Mourinho and Conte, a pair of big name wind-bags. Pochettino then took over Chelsea, a crazy team, and organized them. Got them winning in the second half of last season and was fired for his trouble. And was praised by everyone but Chelsea's Co-Directors of Football. Yes, Chelsea has two guys in the same role as Adam Peters and Mike Rizzo.

Pochetino is a fine coach who would have been a fine choice at a big PL team.
