Chaparro, 25, is hitting .332 with 26 doubles, one triple, 19 home runs, 75 RBI, 41 walks, three stolen bases and 69 runs scored in 95 games for Triple-A Reno. He leads Arizona’s system in average, on-base percentage (.403) and hits (122) and ranks in runs scored (2nd), slugging percentage (3rd, .564), OPS (3rd, .967), doubles (3rd), extra-base hits (3rd, 46) RBI (3rd) and home runs (T4th).

With our minor league dearth of 1B/3B outside of Brady House, I'm actually pleased Rizzo loaded up on corner IF players at the deadline.

I get Chaparro is not a top prospect and he was available for a reason for a reliever, but he is raking in AAA after a pretty solid AAA hitting season for the Yankees in 2023. Maybe Nationals think they can fix whatever weakness in his swing that scared AZ and NYY and help turn him into a guy whose bat can be passable in the corner IF.

If the clock strike midnight on Juan Yepez, I'd be interested to see Chaparro get some burn in November.

I don't care how bad the defense is or if they see a hole in the swing, they have to challenge him against major league pitching.

Juan Yepez has certainly earned the right to finish the year at 1B. Ramirez and Blankenhorn shouldn't be holding back a 25 year old with progressively ridiculous AAA numbers.
