TNT announces they have matched Amazon's NBA rights offer (as they had the ability to do under their existing contract). The NBA will now decided which offer to take.

The reporting was that the offer was impossible to match- it was streaming only with the requirement for availability that Max can’t offer. They’re posturing for a payout

ESPN fired Zach Lowe. I guess Stephen A and Perk are what they think people want

Good thing they scheduled a soft team for the Celts to open the season. Wouldn't want to spoil ring night.

Greg Popovich has suffered what the team is calling a "mild" stroke. He is out indefinitely but is expected to return. He's 75.

I'm not sure how to rank the all-time NBA coaches and GMs.

Red had that amazing run as a coach, and if you want to say "well he Russell and all that talent," then you should give him GM cred for not only building those teams (with at least 2 complete lineup restructurings from the Cousy / Ramsey / Sharman days to the Sam / KC / Hondo team, with only Russell and Heinsohn as the main constants), but also the Cowens / JoJo / Hondo team and the Bird/McHale/Parish team and those 5 post-Russell championships.  Riley I think has to be mentioned, too, but then there's Popovich who built multiple great teams over a long stretch in a much bigger league (spreading talent thinner). While he had Duncan and a lot of other stars, I don't think he ever had an era-defining guy on his roster like Riley and Red had, sometime in multiples.

Phil Jackson.
yes, he's got to be on the list, too, maybe more than Riley. OTOH, Riley and West probably would be a GM list.

Really remarkable the brains of the 80s Lakers and Celts. The Celtic players had 3 guys at least who won exec of the year (Bird, McHale, Ainge), a few coaches of the year (including Carlisle), other GMs and coaches, plus Red, and the Lakers had Scott and some others too. Then you get the great minds like Kareem and Walton, and a terrific businessman like Magic.

He’s been gone for awhile. Denver. I don’t remember. Some guard I think.

Wiz got Monte Morris and Will Barton for KCP and Ish Smith.

Ish is out of the league. Monte Morris went to Detroit for a 2027 2nd round pick. The Wiz bought Barton out of his contract after the trade.

Beal's time in Phoenix looks like it's up. They're benching him to pressure him to waive his NTC. Why didn't the Wizards think of doing that

Well if they had gotten more might have a better record this year and less chance to Lagg for Flagg. Anyway that regime is gone.

Please no.  And he would not want to be back.  Maybe to Miami for Jimmy Butler.

Miami doesn't want him. The trade I've heard is Butler to Phoenix and Beal to a tanking team with both Miami and the tanking team getting assets from Phoenix (does Phoenix even have enough to give?)

Hmm, now where would they find a tanking team who might be willing to take on Beal......?

Beal has a no trade clause. Going nowhere except Miami and maybe a couple other places. Why would he waive that to go to a tanking team?

Phoenix is trying to make him miserable.

Went to hawks game in Atlanta last night. I can see why Ted wanted a new arena. State Farm makes CapOne look like a third-world venue.

Hawks were awful. Cade Cunningham looked fantastic.

Where is their new arena located?
