1.26 is what I posted according to Spotrac. I thought Sime got 2M, which he did.

Also, Petry signed according to Zuckerman.

$1.26 million probably means the Nats avoided any penalties. Cheap SOBs.

Very nice draft planning. Coy James might be the sleeper. Buying a kid out LSU (Sime) given the NIL possibilities seems big too. 4 good high schoolers along with a college power bat is not a bad haul in the top 5 rounds.

I'm unsure of Petry figure, just saying they had 1.26M in pool left before penalties. Staying below 5% overages should allow them to not forfeit a pick.

Rumors are the Nats went over slot and signed Petry to 2.09M. They apparently paid a 620k overage penalty. Didn't lose a pick, but I'm also unsure how this stacks up to prior years.

Edit: Looks pretty consistent that the Nats went over their pool by 5% or a little less for nearly the last 13 years. This is the first year that they went well under slot on their first rounder though.

Zuckerman just reported that they went over the allotment by about 4.75%...and so it's done...

Ethan Holliday has struck out 10 times and walked once in his first 21 ABs.

Imagine if we had drafted him.....
