The utter disappointment I will feel if they take a dude who’s already had TJ with the idea of fast tracking him to the majors will be pretty strong.
Same. Maybe I'm wrong and he just ends up being great. But I already think poorly about LSU prospects after Crews. Add in previous TJS and a mysterious bump in velo from a 6-2, 179lb dude and I'd be more than happy to pass. Or take. Honestly, I feel indifferent because this year's draft seems like a crapshoot.

Frankly, this is yet another instance of MLB's new lottery system freaking us over. Skenes should be a National. Jac Caglianone should have been our 6th pick. This is utter horsecrap.

Baseball America predicts Kade Anderson:

Quote
1. Nationals — Kade Anderson, LHP, LSU
Why He’s The Pick: For weeks this has sounded like a coin flip between Ethan Holliday or Kade Anderson. My confidence hasn’t shifted significantly in either direction but I have had a few more people lean Anderson in conversations in the last few days than Holliday. There’s still a part of me that thinks Eli Willits on a more aggressive deal could make a lot of sense, and I wouldn’t count it out. But Anderson seems to have more momentum here than anyone.

What They Are Getting: Anderson is the top-ranked college arm in the class and could be ready to pitch in the majors as soon as next year. He has midrotation upside that could fit nicely alongside developing ace MacKenzie Gore.

Other Names We’re Hearing: Ethan Holliday, SS, Stillwater (Okla.) HS; Eli Willits, SS, Fort Cobb-Broxton (Okla.) HS; Seth Hernandez, RHP, Corona (Calif.) HS; Aiva Arquette, SS, Oregon State

Dart Throw Names For Later Rounds: James Ellwanger, RHP, Dallas Baptist; Colby Shelton, SS, Florida; Jase Mitchell, C, Cape Henlopen HS, Lewes, Del.

Anderson is a "mid-rotation" starter? A 3 or 4? Why bother? He's 6-2 and 180 pounds. How soon before he breaks?

Get the feeling a broad swath of us hate the idea of Anderson. Toss me into the pile. It makes zero sense to me especially with a mess of a farm system and big club. Just take the highest upside player, period, and if we miss, we miss, aiming for floor, when you suck at all levels, is idiotic.

Its not hate. I kind of understand the idea of Anderson, but I don't think Anderson is that guy. Frankly, if you want someone who can contribute in the next year or two, I think Doyle and Arnold are better options. Anderson has a higher ceiling, but I also think he's being pumped up a bit too much. The SEC isn't anything special. LSU isn't Wake Forrest.

You sound like a Wake Forest fan. LSU is the premier college baseball program in the country. Did you forget about Skenes? How about Grant Taylor? Oh and the SEC is the best conference in college baseball by a country mile with the most talent easily out of any conference . Winning the last 6 College World Series I think proves that point. Crews has struggled early on but he will be just fine. Continue to hate on LSU though.

I’d rather take Doyle over Anderson but think Anderson will be a solid pro, not sure he will be an ace, but a solid 2 I could see like a Zimmermann. And agree with the swing for the fences approach with the first overall pick. Take Eyanson or Shores later on and go big for the 1st pick. Won’t be upset at all if they pass over Anderson.

Jay Johnson will be the Nick Saban of college baseball when it’s all said and done.

As the hours count down on Sunday to the start of the MLB Draft, the Washington Nationals have slowly whittled what was a group of seven or eight players down to three to be the No. 1 overall pick: Ethan Holliday, Kade Anderson and Eli Willits.

Skenes is a freak and from the Air Force Academy. Grant Taylor is middle relief for the White Sox.

The SEC is barely low A ball. There's no magical sauce there that makes major leaguers. If there was, everyone would draft from the SEC. It shouldn't factor in to whether or not to draft someone, especially with all the analytic data that we have available to us.

For the love of god, just take Holliday. This should not be that difficult.

Actually, given his swing and miss and that he seems to have skipped most of the travel ball circuit, I think this is a lot harder than most think.  Lot or boom or bust with the top three choices

I’m fine with willits if it means a mid first round talent with our 2nd pick

By that measure then Seaver King is from lowly Wingate. And college baseball is going to be producing a lot more talent now that the NIL is basically the wild, Wild West. Only 8 SEC players were selected in the first round last year. Yeah, real lack of talent. You’re already seeing more first and second round HS talent going to college now. Have to give credit where credit is due, you’re a magnificent troll.

If Skenes was available this year, I'd take Skenes. And we came around to that two years ago, after leaning toward Crews. But Anderson does not look like another Skenes.

Take Holiday. Best player available.

That's totally dependant on who falls to the second round though

I don't feel good about any of the options. Seems likely to be a disappointment one way or another.

Which actually has me kind of hopeful because my instincts are usually terrible.

Cheer this stupid crap on all you want but we won’t sign free agents and we just went under slot. This franchise sucks now. Sell the damn team.

Team is a joke regardless.  Just good to avoid another Borasian who'll be gone as soon as they hit FA.

This feels like an overcorrection from who Rizzo would have picked (Holliday).

MLB Network: Saving money or going in a different direction.

They know too.
