4 Ks in 5 ABs tonight, now hitting .105, putting up similar numbers to Dylan Crews, just in High A ball

Still pretty much the same.  17Ks in 35 ABs, hitting .086 with a .244 OPS.

He's had a grand total of 113 minor league at bats and just 35 at A+. This is getting silly.

With 1 extra base hit and 0 HRs.  He's also never been a patient hitter and had only one year in a top conference.  At best, he's a platoon infielder with a 600s OPS, which doesn't require a 1st round pick.

I remember the surprise at the time when we took him instead of Montgomery, who was on the board and viewed as slipping. The talking up of King didn't start until after he was taken about 5 picks earlier than projected. Montgomery ended up as the second piece in the Crochet deal along with Teel. King has to hit (his best tool) for this pick to work out because it was a stretch and we passed on consensus higher rated guys. Not writing him off yet, but it clearly was a case of the Nats thinking they were smarter than the mainstream

I remember Fangraphs was higher on him than most and had him at #11 on their draft board, but nobody else had him that high.

the whole write him off stuff is as silly for him as it is for Cruz. Too much pedigree. I'm not a fan of the pick, and don't see him as a star in the making, but the kid always was supposed  to have a good hit tool. Until Elvir gives a negative report back after seeing him, or RD brings me down with a reality check, that's my expectation.
