I’m trying to understand why, if we are building for three or four year from now at best, we want to rush anyone and use up service time?

At some point the "we're always three years from competing" is going to lead to Rochester having better attendance than the Nats.

They're holding players down and making lame excuses.

I prefer the N + 2 formula.

Seaver King has been one of the biggest stories on the farm right now. The former 10th overall pick had a brutal first season as a pro. However, he has bounced back in a huge way. King has a .987 OPS in 29 games this year at Harrisburg.

It is worth noting that King left the game on Friday and did not play the next two games. Hopefully that injury is not too serious, and he can start playing again soon. Assuming the injury is not serious, he is an easy promotion candidate. Triple-A Rochester has mostly been playing Trey Lipscomb at shortstop lately, so there is an easy path to playing time here. King also looks ready for the level.

OPS up to 1.002.  Whatever he saw on the road to Damascus at the Arizona Fall League needs to be shared with Dylan Crews.

Kevin McGonigle, who provided the great vision to King, and told him to focus on pitch selection over swing mechanics, is now OPS'ing .831 with the Tigers as a 21 yo with a 23:21 BB:K.

They seem pretty slow to promote everyone. I think Cruz only got it because of the log jam in the infield at Fredericksburg.

To be honest, I'm okay with largely slow rolling promotions. We're in no hurry to get anyone up and sustained performance after being adapted to is important. Frankly, I think we were too quick to promote Crews, Garcia, and some others and it hindered their development.

I agree here. I'm not a fan of promoting off a hot streak. Even low minors you'll see pitching adapt to hitters. Give them time to fight through, especially now the Nats have staffed the low minors beyond the bare minimum.

Levi Jordan came out of yesterday's game after suffering a groin injury ("popped something" according to LeCroy), so there's a SS opening in Rochester.....

I think Toboni needs to send the other prospects on some kind of Zen session with Kevin McGonigle, maybe an Ayahuasca Retreat with him, or just loan them to the Tigers for a week to learn from the guy.

Bring him up. Move CJ to second and platoon Nunez. Its not like King is some super young prospect. He's already 23 which is beyond most rookie ages in the other major sports.

Nah, give him until the end of July at the earliest. He would still be in AA but for the injury to Levi Jordan.

Am I the only one concerned about 40 man roster management and starting guys service time clocks to early? We are experiencing the problems with the latter with Crews and House right now. As for the 40 man roster, sure, losing a Wiemer or a Chaparro is not going to be the end of the world, but reliever depth is probably more   a more  pressing need than moving out your best defensive infielder when your offense is scoring the most  runs in the majors.

Understood but I believe he is at the average age for a top 10 pick making their debut. Especially so when they were an established college player.

He is the same age Harmon Killebrew was in 1959, when "Killer" finally made the Nats. Maybe 23 is not that old for a first-round pick?

Another hit already today, and he extends his on base streak to every game he's played this season.
