Agreed, unless Lane is packaged.

Arozerena has been bad this year.

110 wRC+ on the season. He's been better than Lane.

105 OPS+. He has been hot recently.  But down from prior seasons overall. Luis Robert is probably the desired target for the front runners.

Mason Miller took himself out of the trade discussion.

FWIW, the "platoon bat" knock on Thomas really has not held up since he returned from his injury. Against RHP, he's .252 / .317 / .415 for a 105 wRC+ and, of course, a .732 OPS. 164 PAs, 4HRs. Not a stud but playable, which supports Rizzo's "he's a full time player" point.

Teams are looking for more than “playable” if they’re buying at the deadline.  And if playable is all they’re looking for, they aren’t paying much.  Rizzo can posture publicly, but he probably has to accept an underwhelming return on paper.

Seems light. Maybe Arozarena is just viewed as a slightly above average hitter in LF,  but he still has two years of control after this

Depends on the PTBNL, but agree it's light as-is.  I wonder if the PTBNL is someone who's injured.  Such guys can't be traded during the season without league office permission, but that restriction doesn't exist in the offseason (no IL in the offseason) so you would just firm up the PTBNL as soon as the season ends.

In particular, Jonny Farmelo (Fairfax County kid) fits the rough profile of the other two prospects (good numbers in the low minors, not in the system long, young for level) and has a torn ACL.  With him included, the package would make sense to me.

Orioles sending Austin "Willie Mays" Hays to Philly for reliever Seranthony Dominguez and center fielder Cristian Pache. I guess that closes the door on Thomas to Philly?

Yes but clearly they will be trading for a reliever.

Rare trade between contenders.

Winker to the Brewers?  They need a lefty bat with Yelich back issues.

Good fit for Hays. Trading Dominguez seems strange. As for Pache, I guess him and Mullins form a platoon in CF, but I don't see this cleaning up the outfield surplus much.

He was a disaster there last year, but he wasn’t healthy.

Phillies have plenty of good relievers. They essentially sold spare parts for a LHP hitting platoon outfield option

Seranthony has not been good the last two seasons.  Great stuff.  Can't control it.  They still need a closer.

I would think Pache is just insurance for them if someone gets hurt.  He can't hit.

He platoons with Mullins nicely. Gives them until 2026, when Bradfield will be ready

He's OPS+ 60 this year.  And that's basically only batting against lefties.  Career 47.  His defense does not offset that.  he is 0.0 bWAR this year.

Mullins has a .381 OPS against LHP. Pache is .662.

So the Orioles are getting high .600s OPS and good defense from their CF position.

It’s honestly kind of pathetic how rizzo moved basically nobody he expected to move this year.

How many at bats for Pache against lefties?
