If there’s one thing rizzo is good at, it’s trades.

It’s honestly kind of pathetic how rizzo moved basically nobody he expected to move this year.
I think you mean the 1 year free agents like Gallo, Rosario, Senzel. I still think Winker and Floro get moved.

Seeing the return the Rays got for Eflin made me even more bummed about Williams being hurt. If he had kept pitching the way he was, he would have gotten us some great pieces.

In here: the Royals and potentially the Dodgers are in on Lane Thomas; the Phillies and "every other team seeking high-leverage relievers" are interested in Kyle Finnegan.

Maybe some of the bloom is off Wong. Ironically, I think Jansen displaces McGuire, which he did in Toronto. Maybe he pairs with Yoshida at DH, too.

I'm tempted to break the non-Nats deadline deals into a Out of Town Scoreboard thread, but deals like Arozarena, Dominguez, Hays, etc... affect the marker for the Nats main assets (relievers and OF/DHs).

they've been playing Grisham in CF and DH'ng an OF, so i suppose Jazz is an upgrade.

Heading back to the Rays from the Orioles are three prospects, right-handed starter Jackson Baumeister, infielder Mac Horvath, and outfielder Matthew Etzel

Phillies get Carlos Estevez from the Angels. So probably out on Finnegan.

Breslow said that the Red Sox have 3 goals at the trade deadline - a starting pitcher, a righty hitter, and a reliever. Paxton checks one box, Jansen another, so that leaves a reliever. I think Floro would check the box and the price range in terms of prospects.

I expect Thomas and Floro are next. My gut feeling is that they'll keep Finnegan to close in 2025.

I'm really curious what a potential return for Thomas would look like now that we've seen what the returns are for Arozarena and Winker (and Hays for that matter, though he wasn't traded for prospects).

Doesn't seem like he would get much of anything in return.

There are more bats than arms right now. Arms are going to get better returns.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much in return for Winker but Stuart sounds like he could be a piece of the bullpen in 2025 if the Nationals choose to go that route. Found money all things considered.

I expect Thomas and Floro are next. My gut feeling is that they'll keep Finnegan to close in 2025.

I really hope that’s not the case. His value will almost never be higher. I’d move him now.

Jason Adam to the Padres for Dylan Lesko and more.

Rizzo has to deal Finnegan at this point

I think that's Floro's last appearance as a Nat. He probably gassed for 7/29, and 7/30 is the deadline

Finnegan is definitely the biggest ticket item the Nats have left.

I saw a report earlier that rizzo wants more than the angels received for their closer.
