'24 White Sox vs. '62 Mets
« Topic Start: June 12, 2024, 11:04:26 AM »
White Sox are 17-51, a .250 win pct, same as the '62 Mets.  Will be interesting to see how historically bad they can be, and if they can break the record.  Their runs scored-runs against currently predicts a .255 win pct, so not like they're unlucky.

Among other historically bad starts to a season, the 1988 Orioles were 19-51 on June 22. They ended 54-107. So I guess that gives the Southsiders something to shoot for.

And the next year the Orioles were 87-75 2 games behind the Blue Jays.

The most humiliating part of this is that due to the new draft rules, the White Sox will at best have the #10 pick in the draft.

Won two in a row, up to 23-61.  The .274 win pct is actually 10 points higher than what their runs scored-runs against would predict.

They're lowering season ticket prices for next year.  Wonder if Mini Me called Jerry Reinsdorf and told him he was crazy to do this.

At the very least the Nats shouldn't be raising prices.

Up to 115 losses, so pretty much a lock to get to 120 and surpass the Tigers as the worst team since the '62 Mets.  Also way better than 50/50 that they get to 122 for the most losses ever.

If you have ever wanted to own literally the worst team in modern MLB history, you might soon have your chance:

what is the asking price? Old stadium probably hurts. does being the second team in Chicago hurt because they are on the short end of attention or does it help because even 40% is still good?
