I don't know what they saw in him to draft him, but something has clicked. They actually paid him $125K so they must have thought he was more than just an 18th round pick.

It looks like his 1st year at USF (2021), they won the AAC and their regional in Gainsville. His numbers don't jump out. He had some juco too in 2019-20. Was on a state championship team in high school. 90s fastball and a good slider are what were mentioned in the article

Only 7 starts in the high minors, but generally low HRs and strong K/BB at all levels so far.

Finished with a 7-inning shutout: 3 hits, 3 walks, 9 strikeouts.

Senators shut out Akron in both games of their double-header. Not much Harisburg hitting, though.

Posted another dominant start on Saturday: 6IP, 3H, 2BB, 6Ks, 0R

Now at 1.48 ERA / 1.13 WHIP

He's gotta be near the top of the "next man up" list if one of our starters goes down.

IT would be a little quick for him, but you have to wonder at some point whether Ward should be demoted and one of the AA starters get a shot at AAA.

He threw three ball fours last night, but got the win and his AA ERA is down to 1.75 in 10 starts.

After years of not developing any starting pitching from the system, all the sudden there are guys coming out of nowhere that weren’t high picks or top prospects.  Irvin, Parker, and now this guy might be following the same mold.

And later rounds too.  Irvin was a 4th rounder, Parker a 5th rounder, Lord an 18th rounder who stayed in college and was drafted as a 22 yo.  Meanwhile all the first rounders were busts.  Lord should be in AAA soon, but the promotion process in this org is still questionable.
