Lord was utilized mainly as a starter by the Bulls this past season as a redshirt junior, going 3-7 with a 5.25 ERA. The 6-foot-3 right-hander had 60 strikeouts with 22 walks in 61 2/3 innings.

2022: Made 14 appearances on the mound, including 13 starts…went 3-7 with a 5.25 ERA…struck out 60 batters over 61.2 IP…struck out six over 5.0 IP on opening weekend vs. Louisville (2/19)…struck out six over 4.0 IP vs. Niagara (3/27)…tossed a complete game (6.0 IP) at UCF (4/3)…struck out a season-high seven batters over 5.1 IP vs. Houston (4/29).

I don't know what they saw in him to draft him, but something has clicked. They actually paid him $125K so they must have thought he was more than just an 18th round pick.

It looks like his 1st year at USF (2021), they won the AAC and their regional in Gainsville. His numbers don't jump out. He had some juco too in 2019-20. Was on a state championship team in high school. 90s fastball and a good slider are what were mentioned in the article

After years of not developing any starting pitching from the system, all the sudden there are guys coming out of nowhere that weren’t high picks or top prospects.  Irvin, Parker, and now this guy might be following the same mold.

And later rounds too.  Irvin was a 4th rounder, Parker a 5th rounder, Lord an 18th rounder who stayed in college and was drafted as a 22 yo.  Meanwhile all the first rounders were busts.  Lord should be in AAA soon, but the promotion process in this org is still questionable.
