Welcome to Triple A
wow. 3 levels in 3 months. I'll guess Wilmington was just something token rehab like, but this is outstanding for a guy I don't think was on anyone's radar.

First AAA start is in the books: @ the Syracuse Mets:

5 IP, 9H, 2ER, 0BB, 4K

That's not too shabby against the best team in the division

I watched the first couple innings on milb.tv.  Control was good but got some unlucky hits.

K/BB and HR/9 rates all holding up well after three AAA starts.

17 K's, 3 walks, and 1 HR in 15 innings.  About the same ratios he had at AA.  ERA is higher, but that's bad luck.

An 18th rounder, he's become the top pitching prospect in the org, especially with all the injuries and Jackson Rutledge walking about 5 batters every 9 innings, and striking out fewer batters than Lord.

I'll still say Sykora and probably Susana are better prospects in terms of likelihood of hitting vs ceiling, but Lord is probably the starter closest to the majors who could give you starts and maybe even take a rotation slot.

for an 18th round draft pick, making it to the majors as even a 4-5 starter is a nice payoff.

Agree, but I wouldn't get excited about Sykora or Susana until they put up the numbers in at least AA.  There's a high flame out rate for highly touted pitching prospects still in A ball.  Moreover, they're both averaging four innings per start, while Lord was nearly 6 IP per start in Harrisburg.  Susana's also over 17 pitchers per inning, Lord was almost right at 15 in AA, which is also where he was with the FredNats.  Can't be effective in MLB without getting to the 3rd trip through the lineup.  Plenty of time for Sykora and Susana to develop, but nothing suggests Lord's ceiling isn't as high, or higher than theirs.

I'd like to see him get a couple of starts in September. Should be a guy with a chance to make the rotation in spring training.

I'd like Weems to be DFA'd, Corbin sent to the pen, and Lord called up to take his spot.
