:w: !

didn't need to use Finnegan. Effective start from Corbin. Speed kills!

Over .500 again.

We don't really have any other offensive competency, do we?  Could be the most punchless offense we've ever had.

Tomorrow is Twilight Zone Day.
Tune in to the Washington Nationals Fan Forum at 4:00 PM for Game 2 at Boston Red Sox.

The SY FY channel will air a Twilight Zone Marathon on Saturday, with episodes of the original Twilight Zone TV show from 8 AM until 6 AM Sunday morning.

Will sportsfan882 be there... and post? THAT would be a Twilight Zone moment. This team is no longer a laughing stock.

I keep betting against Corbin. And the reverse jinx is working.

pretty much. 3rd in MLB in Base running runs per FG. It makes up some for the  lack of isolated power(22nd, at .132). Even that ISO stat I think kind of is dependent on a little burst from Senzel (all 5 HR from 4/21-28 against Houston, LAD, and 3 vs Miami).

Young is a great example. Dude has a .069 ISO. The only hint of XBH from him is when he hits a gap or slices down the line and the ball rolls. That said, with 13 steals and only 1 CS, you layer another 12 bases onto his base accumulation over 87 ABs, that's like an extra .138 on his ISO. All of a sudden, he's almost like a power hitter with .207 ISO. His // line morphs into .287 / .364 / .494. or an .858 OPS. Not quite, because an XBH is still more valuable than a single and a steal for its base clearing ability, but the analogy otherwise isn't that bad. To think he's turned into  an .800+ OPS CF with good defense is a big surprise positive.

I pulled Tom's post and this one into the clubhouse thread on whether Young is a legit major leaguer because I think this answers the question as a "H... Ya." If you want to post a response to this post, please post it in the clubhouse thread:

With the :w: posted, we honor the memory of our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS - Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 19th win, each season:

2016 - 4th May (27th match of season)
2017 - 4th May (28th match)
2014 - 7th May (34th match)
2018 - 7th May (36th match)
2013 - 9th May (34th match)
2012 - 10th May (31st match)
2024 -  10th May (37th match)
2010 - 12th May (34th match)
2015 - 13th May (35th match)
2005 - 14th May (36th match)
2011 - 15th May (40th match)
2008 - 18th May (45th match)
2019 - 18th May (45th match)
2023 - 20th May (46th match)
2021 - 22nd May (42nd match)
2007 - 24th May (48th match)
2006 - 25th May (48th match)
2022 - 3rd June (54th match)
2009 - 18th June (65th match)
2020 - 18th September (49th match)

8 games ahead of the 2019 pace. Of course, they would fall to 19-31 over their first 50.

A game behind 2018 for fastest to 19 in the Davey Era.

With all due respect to Old Chelsea, these should have always been listed in order of match number. The calendar date is a function of when Opening Day happens and when travel days and other breaks happen. I reordered it a few times in earlier years, but it just messed up Old Chelsea when he picked it up again.

I don't disagree, and mostly comment based on number of games through the season. When I do the entry after a win, I go back in the GDT archives for the prior year and just pick up the next :w: from the start of the year to the end, copy it (which drops the bolding instruction), then insert the next game and date. That's simple given the precedent, but it would probably not been much tougher had this been arranged by match / game. Now it would take an awful lot of work.
