Saw the score.  What happened? Hail Mary pass?

Put it this way: Remember the famous Flutie Pass in 1984? The plan there was for him to heave the ball and hope it got tipped to a BC player. He just got lucky that Phelan got behind the defense and didn’t need it to be tipped. Last night, the Redskins executed that play the way Boston College had planned it.

Is Jayden Daniels the biggest sports star in DC since….. the Michael Jordan experience?

By pure power of football, I think he maybe already passed Ovechkin and Soto. If Commanders makes playoffs and don’t embarrass themselves, he may quickly be biggest DC sports star since….. John Riggins? I wasn’t alive for that
He’s the biggest star since RG3 in his rookie season. Did you forget all that mania?

Daniels was wearing a nats hat in the post-game press conference.

I watched it. Some luck involved but the Bears really gave it away.

Tyrique Stevenson on the Bears was taunting Washington fans when the play began, had to rush over after the play started, and ended up tipping the ball to Brown.

https://x.com/joe_abdo/status/1850688286022406264

NFL Networks' Good Morning Football show is airing this video today. They called Stevenson's behavior "bush league," not even seen in a high school game. Stevenson apologized on X for doing this while the game was still in play.

The NFL Network observed that, if he had been in position, instead of taunting Washington fans, he might have stopped the pass. Instead, he actually caused the winning touchdown by tipping it to Noah Brown.

It was noted that the entire play took 12 seconds.

Stevenson played a pretty terrible game even aside from that...but...

It would have taken far less than 12 seconds to end the game if offensive holding had been called on Washington's #71 on that play...not much different than the missed facemask call in the Vikings game...

The Bears sucked for 3 quarters, again, and seem to think it's OK to play just the last 15 minutes of a game.  In this case, they only played the last 14 minutes and 58 seconds...

The pass was a fluke. Maybe Stevenson could have stopped it, or any of the bears who decided to bat it instead of letting it fall. So many of these great Hail Marys would have fallen short if the defense just let them fall instead of batting them into the air

Harper was a national celebrity and probably the reason DC got the all-star game. He's arguably the biggest DC sports star prior to Daniels.

RG3 was much bigger than either. Daniel’s can get there if he keeps it up

Harper had 6 years to build and establish himself
. Sold a lot of tee shirts and jerseys. Lots of little leaguers. Signed a lot of autographs. I think daniels has the potential but isn't there yet.

This is correct.

You still have to give Daniels credit for quickly and wa only getting Commanders into Hail Mary position over previous three plays. And you can’t write off him holding on to the ball and calmly working across the field before launching it 65 yards and lofting it so a tip was even possible. Even if Stevenson was still taunting fans, that ball was in the exact right spot for Zach Ertz to try to knock it in the air.

I’ve watched countless Hail Mary balls flail harmlessly over my years or seen tips bounce on the ground in arms reach of a receiver. I’m not going to write off Sunday as pure luck when Daniels and the offense did everything right over last three plays that with 0:00 on clock a ball fell out of the sky into a scrum at the goal line. If you have to be in situation to need the play, that’s all you can ask for.

Harper is a good argument. I think Soto was bigger but I admit the end soured me on Harper.

Rookie Strasburg was incredible, but it ended so fast.

There is a lot of time for this season to go horribly off the rails. If this team holds it together and makes it into the postseason and doesn’t soil itself, I think the hype will get insane. Which in this case is good, since this franchise desperately needs juice off the field.

The Commanders are 7-2. The offense is both averaging the most yards per drive of any team this millennium and has the least turnovers (3) through 9 games of any offense in NFL history

I am Sunshine Squad for Commanders, but this team having a historically ruthless offense with a rookie QB wasn’t in my predictions book.

Next Sunday will be big but this team has yet to have a truly bad game. I am now to point I could suffer a bad game or two and have some faith.

The next three weeks are going to be very big. Next week the Skins host the Steelers on Sunday,  then play at Philadelphia on Thursday night. Both of those teams are 6–2 and the Eagles are, at least as of this point in the season, the Skins' competition to win the NFC East with the Giants in a tailspin and the Cowboys treading water. Following those two games, they host Dallas on November 24. This is a three-game stretch that could make or break the season. (They get the Eagles at home the Sunday before Christmas and then they travel to Dallas the weekend after New Year's.)

The Phillies are still favored to win the division, but the Redskins are -650 to make the playoffs. They are at 7-2. There is a good chance that 10 is enough for a wildcard and we have remaining games against the Titans and Saints. Not to mention two games against an imploding Cowboys team. They've banked enough wins that there is no reason to stress about any remaining stretch

One of the next two would leave me really happy.

Commanders really need to put a beat down on Dallas. Just destroy them. No excuse not to.

Should win two of the next three. And then beat Dallas a second time.

This is a smart move. He is owed a ton of money, but the price is the Commanders original 3rd. This is a move you make while Daniels is on rookie contract.

Yep. They need to treat the rookie deal like their window to win
