Langford with a walkoff grand slam to beat the Yankees last night.

The Yankees closer has blown something like 12 saves. They blew it by not getting Finnegan at the deadline.

No skenes for the Nats in the upcoming series vs Pittsburgh. Pirates have gone to a six man rotation.

no sense of drama. Skenes vs Crews would have been worth watching.

Didn't that article about Skenes say when Skenes faced LSU when he was with the Air Force, Skenes smoked them except Crews who took him deep?

They do not I believe. They waited too long to call Skenes up. Skenes also earns a full year of service time.

You are right. So the Pirates essentially gained no benefit for keeping him down until May. Merrill was eligible for the bonus pick but finished 2nd (which IIRC means San Diego gets extra bonus pool money).

I don't even know what 171 wRC+ is, but sounds like it's good...what is Crews wRC+ in the same number of plate appearances?

Updating:

1. Skenes (Pirates) - 3-2, 2.39 ERA, 0.796 WHIP, 39Ks in 37.2IP
2. Crews (Nats) - .214 / .599
3. Max Clark (Tigers) - A+ .276 / .859
4. Langford (Rangers) - .429 / 1.129
5. Walker Jenkins (Twins) - AA - .125 / .250
6. Jacob Wilson (A's) - .347 / .854
7. Rhett Lowder (Reds) - Injured, missed all of spring training, likely return in May, 1.17 ERA / 1.272 in 6 starts in 2024 in the majors
8. Blake Mitchell (Royals) - A - out so far with a broken hamate, .238 / .815 in 2024
9. Chase Dollander (Rockies) - Owned by Dillon Crews, 7.91 ERA, 1.707 WHIP in 4 starts with the Rockies
10. Noble Meyer (Marlins) - A+, 5.11 ERA / 1.378 WHIP

So 6 of the top 10 have made it to the majors already, Skenes and Langford have been superstars. Still an impressive draft class. Nolan Schanuel is also in the majors (#11) and is batting .253 / .724 playing 1st

Langford's batting average down to .269 after an 0-4 / 3k performance tonight. Over his last 7 games he's hitting .185 with a .443 OPS. 10Ks in his last 27 ABs.

Should have drafted Max Clark. :couch:

Tiny sample size.   He's got an .827 OPS overall, we'd be celebrating if Dylan Crews was 100 points below that.

It's almost like these guys take time to develop or something.

Granted, it's very frustrating with Crews right now, but he plays MLB defense and I don't think the hit tool is overrated, it will come in time. Ackley was a much bigger stretch than Crews.
