And the ump was none other than Brian O'Nora - who forgot the count in last weeks Nats Red Sox game and started yelling at MacKenzie Gore about it.

did O'Nora have a bad rep before these recent gaffe-fests?

Struggled a bit :). 6H, 1BB, just 3Ks, and only one ER in 6 innings

Langford is off the IL, went 0-3 last night as a DH

He’s not a 2023 draftee but I believe Jackson Churio was a top MLB prospect.  He’s rocking an OPS around .600. Lots of cautionary tales out there.

Pretty sure it was Jackson Holiday coming into the season, but could have been Churio too

Prospect hype is so different from reality.  A lot of these guys seem to lose their confidence when facing major leaguers.  Soto was exceptional in how he adjusted and Mitchell Parker has been impressive in his confidence against the hardest hitting lineups.  Hard to measure just looking at stat lines.

Skenes against Ohtani tonight.

Ohtani goes 1 for 3 with a homer and a walk...

Close...called the homer at least...

Skenes' worst start in the majors is still pretty good. Yesterday against the Dodgers: 5 IP, 6H, 3ER, 1BB, 8Ks. Gave up two home runs (including the one to Ohtani).  And he got the W as the Paxton pulled out his inner Corbin (6 ER in 1.2 IP).

Checking in Langford: last 7 games: .286 /.774, still no home runs other than the inside the park one earlier this year.

Max Clark is still at A but probably will get bumped up to A+ before long: .271 / .744 with 3 HRs and 16 SBs.

Stras 2.0: https://www.mlb.com/news/paul-skenes-throws-career-high-103-pitches-6-1-3-innings-in-win
Stras had the great debut but the struggles here and there as I recall. This seems more impressive.

Watching Skenes is very frustrating. He should've been here.

Yep. We have a totally different perspective if Skenes had gone to the team that actually had the worst record. We're absolutely pushing for the playoffs this season with him.

It’s not.  Stras debut was much more impressive

Skenes ERA so far is about a half run lower than Strasburg in 2010. Half the starts so far.
