I think Brendan Gawloski over at FG was in the Pirates scouting ./development / player acquisition side. I'd love it if he'd spill the beans on how close they had Crews to Skenes and how close Langford was. Did it come down to money or was it always going to be Skenes?

Whenever I see a pitcher be great and then fall off means he has some injury and probably something major coming.  Changing mechanics is a sign.  He’s probably trying to fight through discomfort.
