nice inning out of Matt Barnes. The curve looked very good. 2 Ks. Would be terrific if he can show enough to make the team. He was a high end reliever.

Agree, but Boras has a long history of dumping his underperformers here on short term deals. Gallo and Senzel will probably not get contracts again as good as they got this year.

I think they had an eye on Gallo and a price, and when he fell to it, they signed him. I don't think they adjusted the price to account for Winker or that there were a bunch of OFs who were going to sign sub-$5 million. The team went into the off-season short on lefty power, but tbh, with Winker and Rosario, and even Abrams and Ruiz's 2d half, they might be shorter on righty power. It's Thomas and Senzel. That's why Duvall might have been a better signing than Gallo, especially at $3 million.

I just dont see Rizzo tossing away a rule 5 pick. Not after last year.

Nunez seems to be a waste. He has never hit. Is he a better fielder than Armando Cruz, who is supposed to be another "good glove no bat" SS?

Per Davey: Wood's bat hit his wrist on a batting practice swing yesterday. He's fine and could have played but they wanted to be cautious. Which means wrist surgery and out for 2024.
