The Nats seemed to sag and shatter when Gallo, that 1B-defensive-wizard, dropped that ball in the bottom of the third. Best I remember, Gallo made it first and third, nobody out, and pretty soon there were Mets everywhere and still no outs.
was that the play when Parker didn't cover 1st?

I don't remember. Could have been, but I was watching without replay or analysis. Focused on the bal and Gallo's attempt to hold it. I remember that Gallo patted himself on the chest, as if saying, "My fault".

I've been thinking the only reason now to be playing Gallo has been to help out the other IFs (Tena & Abrams especially but also Garcia / Nunez / Vargas) defensively. If he's not doing that, his bat sure isn't carrying 1st base. 2 more weeks of occasional starts, then the experiment is over.

Gallo isnt that good defensively. This is some sort of favor tova veteran thing that Rizzo does. Its why we got stuck with Dan Harren and Adam LaRoche
