It’s just so wrong for a grapefruit league team named after cactus.

Travis Scott will be at the Nats' spring training opening night for a ribbon cutting. I have tickets to that game. Hopefully there won't be any deadly stampedes.

Is five games on MASN more or less than last year?

Looks like they did four games last year, including the exhibition against the Yankees at Nats Park.

So the same as last yeat, but we get that "futures game" as well

I count seven Nats games for this spring on MASN.

Nationals: Top prospects in camp
The Nationals invited six prospects ranked in their top 30 to Major League Spring Training, including outfielder Dylan Crews, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 Draft. Crews (Washington’s No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline and No. 7 overall) will be joined by outfielder James Wood (No. 2, MLB No. 14), third baseman Brady House (No. 3, MLB No. 48), outfielder Robert Hassell III (No. 8) and infielders Trey Lipscomb (No. 14) and Darren Baker (No. 25). Of this group, only Baker has reached Triple-A, representing the steps the Nats are taking to get closer to their next chapter. -- Jessica Camerato

Darren Baker, who grew up around the game, inches closer to his dream

Golden:
Talks about his 1st Spring Training without Dusty in town. Also talks about how 2023 had some good numbers but was hampered by injuries, especially coming back at < 100% in June.
Quote
The offseason heading into 2023 was a lost one for Baker. He tore a ligament in his thumb sliding into a base in September 2022 but played the rest of the season. He participated in the Arizona Fall League briefly but ultimately couldn’t move his hand without pain and opted for surgery.

Baker ended his 2023 season hitting .284 with three home runs and 44 RBI. It was a solid year, but there’s certainly room for improvement. Power has never been a part of Baker’s game, yet he still had only 11 doubles in 107 games in 2023 after 24 in 105 games in 2022. His slugging percentage (.349) was the same as his on-base percentage. Extra-base hits at the major league level will be even harder to come by.
...
Baker said he has made his biggest jump in an offseason. He put on almost 15 pounds since leaving Rochester. Baker also hopes to display better plate discipline this year, including being “more stubborn” in swinging in his hot zones. Last season he believed like pitchers at Class AAA exploited him on balls inside, resulting in him getting jammed on fastballs or chasing breaking pitches down and in.

Notes that while Garcia is slated to be the 2nd baseman, Davey has said Garcia has to earn it in the spring.

Apparently MASN won’t be sending their broadcast teams to Florida - instead they’ll call the spring training games from the studio in Baltimore. That’s gonna be tough on them to call a good game.

Not to worry...there aren't likely to be any good games...

that's like what they did in 2020 and 2021 (for road games). They called from Nats Park.

That would seem to indicate the profit margin for MASN must be small.

Not usually one to praise Rizzo, but I really like his ball four quote and the emphasis it's getting.  It's been excruciating watching the walks and high pitch counts, followed by stolen bases.  Doo had incredible control most of his career, would think he's got a role behind this "strategy".
