Hooray! See you there. I’m in Section 108. Should be fun.

Anyone else going? We could have a mini Meet & Greet at the Red Loft before the game.

Banana ball on ESPN. The points system for winning innings is interesting.

I hope they don’t do anything crazy like leave a ghost runner on second, that may really strain credibility at a fundamental level

The way it works is that you get a point for winning an inning. Whichever team has the most points after nine innings wins the game. To win the inning, you simply need to outscore your opponent. This greatly speeds up the game because the inning ends if the team batting at the bottom of the inning scores more runs than were scored by the team batting in the top of the inning.

In the ninth, all runs count as points, so the team trailing still has a chance to come back and win.

The game took about 90 minutes with some innings lasting only a few minutes.  They have a few other interesting rules. On ball four the batter has to start running to first and can't be thrown out until all 9 fielders have touched the ball. There are no mound visits, and batters can't leave the batters box. And a batter can steal first on a passed ball or wild pitch (the latter would be awesome to add to pro ball).

The game was insane! Think of every minor league between innings entertainment you’ve ever seen, then put that on steroids. Add in a Princess, a player on stilts, an outfielder making a catch while doing a backflip, dancing grandmas, and nonstop music, and you get a small idea of what it was like.

I’m really glad I got a chance to experience the madness. It was so much fun, but absolutely exhausting!

Gio got a very enthusiastic welcome as the guest pitcher. It was good to see him again.

glad you enjoyed the game! We staked out a spot near 318 but were in the sun until about 7:30 so that was a bit rough.

You probably had a better view of the antics than we did. Section 108, where our lottery tickets ended up, was not ideal as most of the fun seemed centered on the infield. But the scoreboard offered good coverage, and we did get a great view of the center fielder’s back flip catch. And at least we were in the shade.  8)

We had an absolute blast. We lucked out and got tickets in the first row of 213. It was so nice to once again see Nats Park filled to capacity and LOUD! And the whole place went crazy when Gio came out. I hope they come back again soon.

Bananas vs Party Animals on ESPN2. Game start at 7:45.

I didn’t realize that a bunt is an automatic ejection.
