I'm more into Portland Cement trivia
I'd wondered if it was named after Portland, Maine or Portland, Oregon. Turns out it's named after Portland, Dorsetshire.

I could have told you that.

FG profile on Millas:

Quote
Millas is a plus catch-and-throw athlete with a rocket arm and amazing lateral quickness. He's a very rangy ball-blocker and quickly recovers whatever he doesn't smother. Millas' exchange is a little slow because he flips his hips and tries to have a clean, complete motion on every throw down, so he "only" pops around 1.90, which is still plus. He used to throw from his knees very often but that appears to have changed in 2023, perhaps to remedy the issues he sometimes had with accuracy. His biggest asset on offense is his feel for the strike zone, though Millas can also do some low-ball damage against breaking balls that don't quite finish. He has a hole at the top of the zone big enough that big league pitchers will feel comfortable approaching him up there. Millas would be a Top 100 prospect if not for that hole, small frame and all. It's plausible Millas will buck trends and become physically dense and impervious to the 100-game primary catcher grind. He's an uncommon athlete for the position and looks like he spends time quality time in the weight room, but he hasn't caught more than 55 regular season games since 2021 and needs to prove it.

free base runners before power hitters aren't good. Solos usually don't kill you,but 3 run jobs will change a game around.

Yes. He keeps falling behind hitters.

We're clearly not competing next year, but I hope that he gets a significant amount of starts to see if he can improve. Otherwise, he is very clearly a reliever.

At what point does his nickname become "Rutty?" No doubter if he was a hockey player.

thing is, it takes low 80s to compete for a WC spot in the NL. It's not undoable. This team overachieved a bit, but a couple signings and a little development, and it could be done.

I don't like that play. Vargas is a good contact guy, I'd have taken my chances with him against Chavez.

What I will miss most about the season ending is watching Ildemaro play every day.  And every play.

Its pretty much a pipe dream. Ownership aint spending for the pitching and big hitters. Wood will not be ready in 2024. House probably not. Cavalli probably not. We're simply hoping that Gore improved and Gray maintains.

75-77 wins is about what you can hope for next season.

That's really the worst outcome.  Go lower for a high draft pick.

I think it'd be kind of devastating if this team slips back to 95+ loss total next season.

Why?  Will be a new team in 2025.  Crews.  House.  Maybe Wood. Yoyo.  Lipscomb.   Cavalli for a full season.  And maybe a legit free agent or two.

I want 3 of those guys in the lineup after 8/1 and a nice finish. I want Cavalli showing something, too, plus progress from Gore, Gray and Irvin.  Am I greedy? no. Just seen too many Baltimore games.

I'm not sure why everybody automatically assumes the Nats won't sign any free agents. It wouldn't of made sense to sign any big free agents the last few years. The time may not even be this off-season. But I would expect them to supplement whatever needs they need after getting an idea who from the minors is going to pan out and who's not. In todays Post Rizzo mentions getting the next championship team from the minors, free agency and trades. They signed who they needed to in the past when it was appropriate and until they don't I wouldn't assume they won't.

BTW, unlike the O's owner who has come out and says he's not signing free agents.
