so, among the Jacksons (Chourio, Merrill, and Holliday), he's #3.

He’s doing better than Michael.

Holliday is obviously a bust: .059 BA / .170 OPS in 34 ABs.

he'll be back, soon you'll see,
you'll remember that he belongs in B
he'll be back, time will tell, he just needs to show that he can bat well.
players rise, players fall, we have seen prospects through it all
and when ball, hits the glove, he will drive a fastball over the left field wall to remind you of his love.

8 of their 9 starters tonight were completely homegrown, never part of another org.  One thing they don’t do that the Nats shouldn’t either is bring in has beens and Rule 5s to round out the roster.  It only delays development of internal guys and doesn’t make the team any better.

They had a few one-year veteran guys before they were ready to compete. If you look at their 2022 roster a few that jump out include Robinson Chirinos at catcher (ahead of Rutschman), Chris Owings at 2B, Rougned Odor on the bench, and Jordan Lyles in the rotation.  They claimed Voth off waivers from us in June that year.

They also had Kyle Gibson in the rotation last year.

6 of their top 9 starters in '22 were homegrown.  The Nats tonight had just 3 homegrown starters - Young, Garcia, and Lipscomb.

Yea I mean they averaged 110 losses the three non covid years from 2018-21.  The Nats seemed to enter the rebuild 2021. Not having the top draft pick this year hurts.  I think next year would be fair to see some progress with the young players reaching MLB and more wins.

The Nats will never quite be the Os in terms of draft choice 1 organization guys in this rebuild because we will be counting on Abrams, Ruiz, Gore, and Wood (and maybe Gray) to play significant roles. There will also be Garcia and Crews, House eventually, plus we can hope for Irvin, Parker, and Cavalli, with maybe Henry and Brzykcy in the bullpen. The bottom line is the major league roster will be populated by a bunch of players pre-arb / early arb years or otherwise cost limited, allowing for filling at the margins and retaining the flexibility to lock up some of those guys. If the ownership group is willing to spend to augment a core (unlike the Angeloses), that strategy should work. We don't have to replicate the Os any more than Boston has to replicate Tampa Bay.

To each his own I suppose.  I think the CC jerseys are trifling.  They may be better as road grays, but wearing them at home against an opponent wearing a lighter shade of gray is visually unappealing.

The CC Nats hat is my go to. I think it looks great and I get complimented on it fairly regularly.
