I looked it up...Bobo, who pitched for the Nats, lost 20 games three times:

- 1934 for the STL Browns

- 1941 for Detroit

- 1945 for the Philadelphia A's

And Bobo won 20 games three times:

- 1938 for the Browns

- 1939 for the Browns and Tigers

- 1940 for the Tigers

He also pitched for the Nats four different times. He was nicknamed "Bobo" because he could not remember names, so he called everybody "Bobo".

After that, he threw 184, 189, 214, and 174 innings each of the next 4 years, peaking in a 14-8 2006 (4.08 ERA, 3.29 FIP) and 5+ fWAR. injured in 2008 & 2009, pitched poorly in 2010, failed comeback in 2013, and out of baseball. Case in point why you manage young pitchers innings and don't throw them to the wolves.

He wasn't a bad pitcher.  Maroth wasn't awful either, just had a down year that season and wasn't young enough for them to spare his ego on a horrendous team (someone needed to take those losses).

the blood clots in the shoulder sounds interesting now with our TOS issues. Doesn't sound like he had a bunch of surgeries. I do wonder about the innings he piled up young. 200+ innings at 23? one more season of 174 then pfftt.
