He could go all the way to second base or just short of it.   Plenty of time to get back when the ball is at the wall.

Yeah rounding second was the mistake.

Okay, maybe. But 99% of the time, that ball isnt caught. And if that ball isnt caught and he doesnt score, thats way more of a disaster/mistake.

And if he isnt past second base, he probably doesnt score. Not starting from a standstill.

The bigger issue was Wheeler starting the 7th. The Braves in the postseason are not the Pirates or Cubs in June. 85 pitches in that atmosphere is a lot of high stress pitches.

The biggest issue was the Phillies stranded too many runners on base.  Especially against a team that scored 5 runs on 4 hits.  I think they felt like maybe they made a mistake pulling Wheeler too soon on game six of the World Series last year and wanted to make it up to him. Strange given that they came off an off day and had another off day the day after.  That’s baseball.

Looking more like an all Texas ALCS.

This is moving beyond simply being outclassed to wondering about pitch-tipping or sign-stealing.

Seems like they've had no competition all year.

Dang, looks like it's gonna be all over for the O's if they don't wake up at the plate, and fast.

The O's need to sign a top pitcher for next year if they want to be successful in the playoffs. John Angelos won't do it though.

Now just need the Braves, Phillies, and Astros to get knocked out. Wouldn't mind the Diamondbacks eliminating the Dodgers either.

I still have the fantasy of the Twins vs. the Rangers in the ALCS.  Just to annoy Welch and the other long-suffering types who can't figure out whether they hate the Griffiths or the Shorts more. :lmao:

Lol. When I was a kid my dad and uncles hated the Twins. Then it was my turn to hate the Rangers. Over the years since we got a team back I guess I've softened. My brother-in-law loved going to Griffith Stadium as a kid. He's buried very close to Calvin Griffith. Every time I go visit him it's all I can do to not relieve myself on Calvins grave.

I do believe the Angelos family has surpassed both.

I'm too young to have known the Rangers as anything other than the Rangers, so it's hard for me to feel much animosity towards them. I should ask my dad how he feels about them, Frank Howard was his favorite player growing up.
