I could make a case for any of them staying around. I think Smith is an asset on the defense, and Robles looked like he was perhaps breaking through offensively. But, are these guys the best use of the money and roster space?
There would be maybe $6-7 million tied up in Smith and Robles in the last year of arbitration for Smith and $3 million in the Robles option. Last year, the 1st basemen who signed in the $5-$9.3 million range were, low to high, Andrew McCutcheon, Matt Carpenter, Carlos Santana, Trey Mancini, Wil Myers, Brandon Drury, and Brandon Belt. All were 1-2 years. Myers, Mancini, and Carpenter were bad, Belt was excellent, and Drury and McCutcheon were good, so call these signings coin flips. You might be able to sign Ji Man Choi on a bounceback contract, or take a shot at Garrett Cooper for a little more but easily in that price range. hoskins I think would cost a bit more, at least 10 million, even coming off injury because he's a much better hitter.
Kieboom has not shown anything in the majors and really nothing since 2019 in Fresno*. With both him and Garcia, as well as Smith, it's more a case of what do you have to replace them with?
