Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN.

Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond.

This is from an article in Dodgers News and Notes on April 5th of this year, before the season, on what Urias can expect to sign for after this year:

"I think Urías winds up signing a deal for around eight years and $250 million, assuming he repeats the performance of his prior three seasons."

I just can't imagine being this stupid to throw away so much money.

HE blew it, and some dumb GM was just rescued.

I guess it wasn't necessarily obvious to teams that Urias had rage issues. I don't necessarily believe somebody can't overcome a f-up (Caveat - some mistakes you never stop paying for), and perhaps the guy seemed to have his act together. That said, I'd hope teams would do some personality / psychological screening before offering that huge of a contract like they would screen the shoulder and the elbow. Essentially, this guy is Elijah Dukes attitude but with better performance. Pitch with a left arm, and folks will give you chances. Pitch well with a left arm, folks will give millions regardless of the chances.
