Whatever happened after he left here, it's hard to overstate how important Rendon was to that lineup. I was a strong member of the Extend Rendon contingent. I thought he was the most valuable of the 3 decisions of 2018-19 - Harper, Strasburg, and Rendon.
Still would take Rendon over Strasburg

That was my 50th.  I may have had some beers that night.
Last night’s score somewhat resembles another October 23rd:

Lots of joy from that season. Feel more separated from that win than I probably should. Global health crisis took away 2020. 2021 season started weird. By the time global health restrictions were lifted at Nats game, it was about the time we all realized the party was over. We'll always have that season. But it feels more like 2009 than 2019.

In hindsight, I have no idea how Martinez bullpen management held up through postseason while it seems every big bullpen decision by an opposing manager blew up in their face.

Also in hindsight, had there been no health crisis, I can't get over how depressing the 19-20 offseason was as a setup to the repeat season.

Absolute magic.  Still wish they'd won a home game, but y'know, whatever

I totally get you.  It really does feel like a lifetime away at this point.

Still such a beautiful memory, though.  You could almost script a postseason for this franchise and not make it any better than that.

Pretty wild how the Caps kind of went through the same thing the year before (exorcising old demons/getting long overdue revenge), and the Nats managed to top it in terms of drama and story.

Reminder from the Nats social media accounts: If you start watching a replay of game 7 tonight at 9:38:58, Howie's HR strikes the foul pole at midnight.

Hold on to those replica rings for when Bryce Harper comes to town.

It was the moment. I saw my first game when Bucky Harris managed the Nats. He had managed the team to the 1924 World Series win, and Washington kids read about 1924 and '25 over and over. Sam Rice, Goose Goslin, and Joe Judge all seemed like ancient history. And then it happened again!

I will always remember sitting in the second deck in RF during Game 3 of the NLCS, when the Nats buldozed the Cardinals to take a 3-0 lead. We knew that the Nats, after all those years, after losing my childhood Senators and then the expansion Senators, would go to the World Series.

It was magic.

Only thing wrong about the above is Rendon was not traded. Otherwise that entry is entirely accurate.

Isn't Max's contract up with the Rangers and he's a free agent this offseason?

Yes. Not sure why we want a 40 year old with injuries and diminishing ability.

2020 was bad many reasons, but missing the victory lap with that team was one of the big sports misses.

I didn't mean we should sign him. It's just the above list showed him still with the Rangers. If he did want to sign a 1 year contract for cheap I think he would be good for the young guys.
