A little touchy there, but not runs. Touchy because Gore touched the strike zone on two pitches called balls on the walk...

Young hit that ball harder and further than anything Rutherford did while in the show.

Much as I have disliked Kieboom, I am cheering for him to keep this up. Something about his expression after hitting that one, and the two before that

I remember Pat Corrales as the backup catcher to (Johnny Bench?).

Nats priority needs to be a veteran SP who can eat innings.  Gray and Gore are just agonizing to watch sometimes. They will just kill a bullpen over a season. Someone like Kyle Gibson. Fades every year but will still give you 160-180 innings. With a 5.00 ERA but they need the innings. He was $10 million this year so will not break the bank. Hopefully Williams is a little stronger next year also.

Yea. They need another one of those.  Cavalli won’t be ready start of the season and he seems to be another guy who will throw lots of pitches and go no more than five innings. They’ve actually been very fortunate this year with health of the starters after Cavalli went down. May not happen again next year.

We have plenty of guys like that. Gray, Irvin, Adon, Rutledge.

If we sign in a starting pitcher, it needs to be a front of the rotation guy

This Schneider guy, he's been hitting bombs the past few weeks.. Small sample size I know, the league will adjust to him in no time.

Well no. Those guys seem ableto go more than five innings. And the Lerners will not be spending big. Set your sights low so you are not disappointed. You can shift guys like Corbin and Gibson into the pen if all the other guys improve.

A good pitcher of that level will want at least $20 million a year and multiple years. The team is not going to spend like that.  Look for bargains.

If you think 36 year old Kyle Gibson is going to reliably get you the 7th inning, I have a bridge in Missouri I want to sell you.

We have two other Kyle Gibsons on this team. We dont need a third. Either get a front of the rotation guy, or dont bother at all. Let Cavali, Gore, Gray, Irvin, and Adon develop

10+ million for a ~5 ERA doesnt sound like a bargain
