Is this going to be Finnegan’s sixth appearance in nine days?

I bet some teams with playoff aspirations are regretting not giving up a decent prospect for Finny

We have some elite pieces on this team.  Go out and get another starting pitcher and a middle infielder.   This is a contender next season

With the :w: posted, we honor our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS - Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 50th win, each season:

2005 - 3rd July (81st match of season)
2016 - 3rd July (83rd match)
2017 - 4th July (84th match)
2014 - 12th July (92nd match)
2012 - 13th July (84th match)
2019 - 16th July (93rd match)
2015 - 20th July (91st match)
2018 - 25th July (101st match)
2013 - 26th July (104th match)
2011 - 30th July (106th match)
2007 - 4th August (110th match)
2021 - 7th August (111th match)
2023 - 8th August (114th match)
2006 - 9th August (113th match)
2010 - 13th August (116th match)
2008 - 29th August (135th match)
2009 - 13th September (143rd match)
2022 - 16th September (144th match)
---
2020 - finished 26-34

Moving ahead of 2010 pace by game.

15 more wins and Davey ties Frank for 4th on the wins list for the franchise, behind Felipe Alou, Buck Rogers, and Gene Mauch. 9 more wins ties Dick Williams.

Amazing how 2005 has withstood the test of time for good starts to a season.

well, yes. IIRC 50-31, so with this being the 50th win this season, it'll start to slide. But when you think of some of the better seasons, like 2019, it was a slow start. 2014 as well, and that I think was the second best record. Sure enough, 2014, 2015, and 2019 are in a cluster of seasons up above.

Very impressive indeed, I remember I actually followed the team back in 2004, and they were pretty bad, especially when it came to hitting. Adding Guillen in '05 definitely helped.

I can't remember what happened to him in '06, look like he must have had a serious injury, only playing 69 games.  His performance in all ways was remarkable against the Angels in 2005.   :whip:

IIRC 2005 was the first season in DC. At the mid point of the season we were 19 games above .500 and then proceeded to play 19 games below .500 for the remainder of the season.
