Least expected win of the year
you know, that can be statistically estimated.

With the :w: posted, we honor our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS - Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 37th win, each season:

2017 - 6th June (57th match of season)
2016 - 10th June (61st match)
2012 - 12th June (60th match)
2005 - 12th June (63rd match)
2018 - 13th June (65th match)
2014 - 18th June (70th match)
2015 - 21st June (70th match)
2013 - 21st June (73rd match)
2019 - 21st June (75th match)
2011 - 22nd June (74th match)
2021 - 28th June (75th match)
2006 - 4th July (85th match)
2010 - 6th July (84th match)
2007 - 13th July (89th match)
2023 - 14th July (91st match)
2008 - 19th July (98th match)
2009 - 6th August (109th match)
2022 - 9th August (112th match)
---
2020 - finished 26-34

Note - today's win was a continuation of a game started on 7/14, so I'm putting 7/14 down as the date of the win. This is similar to games that go past midnight EDT.  If the game had been postponed, or play resumed after some intervening games, I would have used the date of the makeup or the resumption of play.

With today's win, the 2023 Nats keep well ahead of the pace of the 3 worst seasons since moving from Montreal - 2022, 2008, and 2009. Not quite up to the 2006-07 or 2010 pace.

on 7/15/22, the Nats were 30-62, nearing the end of a 9 game losing streak.
