5.2 innings, 2ER, 4 hits, 1 walk, 7 Ks on 93 pitches

Disastrous outing by his standards! Love seeing the 93 pitches, 7k/1bb. Should be ready for Harrisburg any day and then things get real.

No reason for him to pitch another game in High A

I see 4 walks and 3 hits given up.  Either way, good to see him starting to get stretched out while he's only six weeks back from injury.  He could probably do 60 pitches/4 innings in an AA start no problem.  Question is would he fall apart there third time through the order.

Won it on a Dugas homer. And Lomavita hitting .288.

Nussbaum notes Sykora in A+ has been ludicrous:

40.2 innings
70 strikeouts (15.49 K/9)
11 walks (2.43 BB/9)
5 earned runs (1.11 ERA)
.107 batting average against, .325 OPS against.

Per Bobby Blanco, Sykora is packing his bags and heading to Harrisburg!

He would be this teams second best pitcher right now.

I really like his low P/IP and BB rate, he is a pleasant break from all the Rizzo man crushes who can't find the strike zone or stay healthy.    He is way ahead of Susana, Clemmey, and all the overhyped pitching busts who've been in this org the last 10 years.  AA will be a big test, but this is probably the best pitching prospect the org has had since Stras.

“My High-A debut, it was a great, great outing, but he called me in the locker room and said, hey if you could take back one pitch, what would it be,’” Sykora said. “I didn’t know, but he said, 'Hey, you threw a 3-2 slider and I could see you trying to get to chase outside the zone and you ended up walking him. You didn’t have the same intent like you usually do in the other 99 percent of pitches.' … That’s always my thought process, but ever since we talked about it two weeks ago, it’s been on my mind.”

I'm okay with giving him another start or two at High A. Let's get him on consecutive starts throwing 90+ pitches before we really test him. No reason to rush this, especially since health is a major concern

He's already been called up.  I'd be surprised if he went past 70-80 pitches in his AA debut.

Does anyone know what’s going on with him? He pitched just one inning tonight.  3Ks and one walk.  But ERA is at almost 8.00.  And why just one inning?  Hope he’s ok.

Zuck says Sykora is OK but may miss a few starts. Maybe a blister issue or workload management?  Doesn't sound like he'll pitch Saturday.

Per Zuck: Lower right triceps soreness. Will be shut down for 2-3 weeks. Not considered serious. Clemmey heading to the futures game.
