Morales and Pinckney were close on OBP vs RHP in AAA (.376 vs .366). Morales had more HRs, but Pinckney was respectable too. With Abi up and playing 1st most of the time, I'm not 100% sure that Morales as a DH vs RHP is all that much of an upgrade over what Pinckney could do.

My feeling is that Tena is the DH vs RHP more or less by default. FWIW, Glasser has an OBP of .354 vs RHP but the classic wet noodle of a bat.  I think Glasser is the primary competition to Tena because he plays some infield.

Morales platoon states are very close, hovering with 100 points of eachother looking at OPS

I want to see if that survives at the majors. If so, he is an elite talent.

I'm curious if they're looking at possible lockout and deciding they'd rather him playing minor league baseball next season than getting 6-8 weeks of major league hacks right now.

The reported Jack Kent call up makes me wonder if we are entering another phase where the roster is pruned to make room for guys the Nats want to see in the majors this year. If that's the case, then a Morales call up could be imminent.

By the way, both Vivas  and Tena I think could be outrighted if they clear waivers. Chappy could be optioned, as could Pinckney, but they need a 4th outfielder and Chappy is just hitting too well right now to do that to him. Abi is a lefty so I don't see him being optioned, either.

Glasser is hitting .300 with an OPS of .746. I'd rather have Glasser than Tena, who cannot field.

Pretty dumb answer. Did he forget that there's a DH in the NL, or does he think we really just need to see a lot more of Tena and Young to make sure they're not going to suddenly break out?

A theory as to why Morales can keep piling up great offensive stats when he has known big hitting weakness.

I’ve been watching Yoyo Morales produce all year (.383 wOBA) despite being so terrible against velocity (.262 wOBA vs 93+) that he’s literally not a prospect. Why doesn’t he get 80% fastballs? Are AAA pitchers just sticking to their development plans and not trying to exploit weaknesses? Or can most of them not throw 93?

Eric A Longenhagen: I think part of why upper level pitchers have success is because they command their breaking stuff, and yeah I imagine many of them wanna pitch to their own strengths rather than the opponents’ weakness.
