We actually had that player in right field in 2024...so if the best we hope to come out of the 2023 number 2 overall pick is Lane Thomas v2.0, and that has yet to be seen...then that...that was a colossal freak up...

yeah i’m not exactly aiming high lmao. but you could do a lot worse than a consistent 3 WAR player

Darin Erstad has a higher career WAR than 2/3 of the players drafted 1-1. That’s a Ryan Zimmerman level of production so yeah I’ll take that regardless of draft position.

Slow start. 0-4, 2K night. Got credit for an RBI when he dribbled a grounder to SS and a runner scored. Hit a solid liner to LF that was caught.

Hit one legitimately out of the stadium today - wind aided for sure, but the swing looked smooth which hasn’t been the case for him for a little bit.

getting more optimistic. Has a 91.7 exit velo at aaa through 25 batted balls. exit velo stabilizes after relatively few events as far as baseball stats are concerned, and exit velo translates fairly well from aaa to the majors.

With his speed and defense, he doesn't need to be barry bonds, or even a 130 ops+ guy. If he can be a 110 ops+ guy with his speed and defense, he's a 4-5 WAR player.
