I found the game just after the half. That Bellingham goal came from nowhere, and Kane's goal was beautifully set up. But what a soggy mess until Southgate finally (reluctantly?) put Palmer and Eze and Toney into the game. What was he thinking? Does Southgate think like Nook Logan?
Don't remind us about Nookie...

Southgate's problem is that he is too loyal to a group of players (like a film director who always uses his/her
ensemble actors...), and has a very defensive mindset, shared by the rest of the coaching staff. The squad's defensive frailities have been highlighted by Shaw's absence - there is talk of him, perhaps, being risked in the Switzerland game. The starkest comment is that the GP had only two attempts on target, yesterday - the goals...It won't happen but, even despite the win, there are calls for Southgate to go now...
For 'what-was-he-thinking?' I find it difficult to see past this...
