My guess is if Garcia continues to struggle at AAA, Lipscomb will eventually be promoted and Garcia will shift to the OF.
So you are going to move a guy ahead who has not even played at Triple A yet. Garcia maybe struggling but it’s a small sample size. Garcia has actually gone against MLB pitching for a few years. Need to see how Lipscomb does at Triple and then MLB pitching.

I think he meant promoted to AAA to play 2nd there if Lipscomb continues to do well in AA and Garcia is struggling at Rochester. I don't see Lipscomb getting another bump this year.

Maybe you do what Imref said, demote Garcia to AA and promote Lipscomb. That keeps Lipscomb challenged and gives a softer landing for Garcia to find his swing.

39 stolen bases this year and remarkably similar numbers at AA as he had at high A.  At 24, he's a good candidate for a Sept call up.

Ignoring talk about all the other minor leaguers, Jacob Young has worked hard to become a solid ballplayer. He deserves to be promoted to AAA. He has hit .304 in AA, while Wood and Hassell are each hitting .225 with loads to strikeouts.

Makes sense to replace an outfielder with an outfielder. Hope he does well.

Good! Young has not had time to master AAA, but the Nats do not need Downs, the shortstop, to fill in at LF.

there's a little window now before guys like House / Crews / Wood are ready for promotion, so guys like Kieboom and Young can get an opportunity to establish themselves as major leaguers. Plus, this will give Every Day / Every Play Vargas one fewer position he has to cover.

official.

Corresponding moves were Garrett to the 60 day IL to clear a 40 man roster spot and Downs to Rochester to make room on the active roster.
