7.33 ERA / 1.63 WHIP for Manaea so far. Last four starts have been 3.2 IP or fewer. We've got this!

Series win would be great. Gray's probably the best guy for it.

Re Manaea: 3, 4 and 5 earned runs in his last three starts, after 2, 1 and 0 in the previous three. Sunshine squad says we're facing him at a good time. Pessimist in me says he's due for a bounceback and our offense would be happy to give it to him.

Pessimist won the first inning.

If every day could be a Gray day...or a Gore day or maybe a Jake Irvin day.

Some sloppy calls by home-plate umpires this series.

I really was hoping we'd sign Manaea as an innings eater / back of rotation starter. Glad we didn't.

Adams for first base?

Maybe as soon as the Nats have a backup catcher. Maybe Pineda. Or Millas?

However, a good 1B is an aggressive infielder, like Keith Hernandez or Don Mattingly. The great Bill Veeck spent months hitting grounders to also-great Roy Sievers after Roy (the first AL RoY) tore up his throwing shoulder. (For those who just became baseball fans, Roy Sievers was the Nats' great slugger after Goose Goslin and just before Harmon Killebrew.

Ryan Z. was a good glove man at 1B.

Vargas to 3B!! A triple!

He fields as well as Candelario, at the least, and he hits.

Why? He can be the backup and play some first base.

Whenever Schmidt hits, just fire a fastball under his nose.

if two play with regularity, you need 3.

Smith's hit the last couple of weeks. just adjust your expectations if you thought of him as a hr guy

Conforto looks like he needs a month is AAA. Nothing like the what we saw when he played for the Mets.
