.247   .296   .393   with 3 HRs so far.  That's....respectable.  And he can play defense.

He’s been better than expected defensively.  He’s no Maikel Franco.

I like Jeimer, but he’s also on a $5m major league deal, Franco was brought in on a minor league deal with low expectations.  Rizzo brought Jeimer in as deadline trade bait but if this team can finally stop going 1-2 every three games he’s not expensive to keep around.

The name of the offseason game was bring in all the once top prospects who flamed out and could have been change of scenery candidates. Sometimes it works (usually for a season or so, just look at Profar) but mostly it doesn't. The Candyman is completely worth the 5Million in upgrades from a minor league deal of busted up Maikel Franco.

I know you're kidding, but with Kieboom about to go into Rizzo's first round draft hall of shame, maybe they'd move Garcia to 3B and bring up Darren Baker to play 2B.

Garcia at 3B would be something.

I'd be fine with Baker at 1B over Smith.

(And Rendon might return "real soon now" from groin injury. Went on 10-day IL May 15)

Jeimer tied with 3 others for the MLB lead in doubles 2 years ago wiht 42. He's now 1 behind Freeman and Chapman for MLB lead this year.

He is the best third baseman in the NL

Marlins, Yankees, Twins, Brewers, Mariners, and the Mets are all potential trade partners

WAR wise, yes, but besides WAR, you've got to think the others having good years may not be available in trade.  Giants aren't moving JD Davis as long as they are in wild card position, so the next best trade target among MLB 3rd basemen would be Ryan McMahon, then Eugenio Suarez and Jace Peterson. I think Rizzo is a much easier guy to deal with than Colorado has historically been, so I would imagine Candy's the guy everyone is in on.

Perfect one year deal guy. I would love to see him back next year, but either way, I'll always be a fan.

MLB report on the trade:

I like the SS, Kevin Made, but the pitcher? Hmmm. But he is a lefty.

Lefty version of Clippard

Writeup says he's wild, with an odd cross-fire delivery, lots of walks, but misses bats. Cubs have tried to straighten out the delivery. If they do, maybe he will be easier to hit.

Clip had control issues as a starter too. Make him a reliever have him and Cate hang out and exchange pitch grips.

If he becomes a decent reliever, then that's great. It's paibful to go into each game with Finnegan, Weems, and unreliable Thompson. And then the scraping from the bottom of the barrel.
