It's strange that the 40th largest media market now has three major sports and there is talk of NBA expansion there too.

The raiders are 30th in attendance in their shiny new stadium. The athletics will have 81 home games and a very crappy product for the foreseeable future. I still don't think Vegas will turn out to be a viable market

Hockey is a winter sport where most teams are located in miserable climates. A trip to Vegas to see your team can be a great idea.

gonna guess they aren't so much concerned about rain as they are about shade for fans? they probably can grow natural grass due to the high sun angle and why give a rat's pattootti attitude towards water conservation (most likely gray water to irrigate so they get a LEED certification ). At night, it can  get cool and it will be open. i imagine very few day games other than April and late September.

If they’re pinching pennies to the degree that they’re not offering an air-conditioned option when people have countless entertainment options surrounding it, that could be a signal of the long-term viability of this.

Oakland fans want Fisher to sell. A's have won 7 straight. Move them back to Philadelphia or keep them in Oakland. If you can't play baseball outdoors, then maybe a place is not a baseball town.

As the last note of the national anthem was sung at the Coliseum on Tuesday night, the Oakland Athletics’ faithful made themselves heard.

Drowning out the sounds of the A’s PA system were the chants of fans who had arrived for the reverse boycott. Their words: “Sell the team.”

The boycott was an initiative by fans to show that their poor attendance, the league’s lowest since 2021, is due to displeasure with the franchise’s management rather than lack of interest. As a result, Tuesday night drew the largest crowd of the year to the Coliseum: 27,759 fans.

The previous high was Opening Night, when 26,805 watched Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels face the A’s.

With a season high in attendance, the reverse boycotters got to enjoy their A’s notching a current MLB-best seventh straight win, a 2-1 defeat of the MLB-best Tampa Bay Rays.

Now that Snyder is gone Fisher is probably the worst of the big 4 sports owners. A complete POS person, and a horrifically bad day-to-day owner as well. He inherited his fortune, did not earn a penny of it, one of the least deserving people in the country to own a professional sports team. In the awful world of sports owners, he ranks at the bottom.

None that I know of. It’s next to MGM Grand near the airport. Right next to the grounds where 65+ people were shot a few years ago.  I was there last week.

The athletic is reporting that some large market owners may vote against the move because the Vegas market is so small that the As will still receive revenue sharing
